Hi I’m a newbie, I have a cls 2007 and have auto problems even though I’ve just had the oil and filter changed. It started when I noticed that I was loosing kick down so had oil and filter changed. Sometimes I still loose kick down. If I stop and turn engine off it seems to reset it and I have kick down again and it’s starting to get annoying now, any help would be much appreciated

Me -2019 GLC 350 coupe AMG line. Mrs- ford kuga 65 plate awd powershift .
its more likely an engine fault, you need a code reader on it.

As above, it's likely an engine problem or accellerator problem but having the codes read and live data checked on parts is going to be first step in diagnosis

+1 on the above. Find a good MB independant garage outside of the dealers and get the stored and live fault codes read.
Possibly just a sensor needs renewing.

I’m in Orpington Kent, I’ve just had filter changed on transmission and the fluid changed, I’ve noticed also sometimes when cold the car doesn’t engage and I have to move it through gears to get it engaged and pull away,
I love the car to bits but this fault worries me

Could be just low on fluid, slow changes might indicate that as well as not engaging at times, a quick dip might be easy for you to do yourself even if it just rules it out.

did issue exist prior to oil ad filter change ? if not start there if so get it on star see what shows up go from there , also look .what if anything disturbed whilst doing oil/filter change.

The kick down problem was there before it was serviced but the lack in pulling away was not, I’ve just not had time to take it back to the garage, and I wouldn’t know where to start to check fluid level, as the is not dip stick

Did the garage use the correct 236.14 spec oil ? Are they regulars at MB gearbox servicing ?

Thanks!

Op: Yes, we are not far from you.

The gearbox selection issue sounds like the fluid level is incorrect

The lack of kickdown is an engine fault, and its going in/out of limp home mode. Give me a call if you want to get it booked in for us to take a look at .

I have taken my cls in and have been told that the diesel particulate filter on the exhaust may cause transmission problem, does this sound right ?

It depends who told you buddy , if it was me I would question it all day long , if it was an experienced honest Indy then probably ?

If the car is in limp mode, due to an engine issue (DPF, EGR, turbo ETC) then the car won't kick down whilst in limp mode.

The transmission seems a lot smoother now but won’t know till I take it for a run and see how it goes, didn’t understand why the blocked diesel particulate filter may alter the transmission, (7 speed tritronic transmission) would like any advice if possible

The car never lost power just kick down and on odd occasion would not engage and not move, normally when it was cold
