Wondering if anyone has encountered this...

Start of last week noticed the typical worn bush type sound (creaky old bed). They seem to go through lower arms now and again so assumed it was this; booked it into our garage.

Car was on the ramp and they went through every joint with the pry bar; no issues, nothing needing replaced.

Car was ok for a day or so then the noise came back - noise also happens (to a slightly lesser degree) if it’s stationary and you run the steering lock-to-lock.

funny thing is; if it’s raining the noise disappears.

I have heard about brace plates for the steering rack needing cleaned up/bolts lubricated when this type of issue appears.

It’s back to the garage tomorrow for further investigation but it seems the noise is steering related, rather than suspension.

Any ideas?...

Thank you all

Had the same on mine and it was the bottom ball joints - the rubber boot had a small split that was really difficult to see and that let in water

Which would tie-up with the lower arm being changed.

I’ll ask them to check the boots specifically, thank you

Have a look at this and see if it will give some info to the garage.
