Hi there.

My 2002 C200K is due for road tax soon. The manual states that the co2 emission is 222 g/km. However, The V5 says that it is 227 g/km.

If thats indeed the case, it means the higher band of £400 as opposed to £210 if it is less than 225 g/km.

Can anyone tell me what the truth is and what band my car falls in? It is a 52 plate auto.

Cheers

Peet.

Would you have bigger wheels on the car than what comes as standard?

Fitting 17" instead of 16" would make a difference in co2, ie opting for a sportspackage with bigger wheels pushes the car's co2 higher....

If the V5 states 227 then that is what the new charge will be based on.

co2 emissions c200K

thank you for the replies. I guess i will have to pay in the higher band.

My car has not been fitted with extras or bigger wheels. In fact, it has steel wheels with hub caps.

We have a C200K too and the V5 says 213 for C02 emissions. Anyone know what tax band that will be

I paid £210 when I got mine. It's all a rip off anyway Mr Brown needs shooting!

Imagine this...

1,000,000 drivers part ex their cars and buy 1,000,000 zero emission electric cars.
1,000,000 x £0 road tax = err £0 in Mr Browns money pot

What would happen with the 1,000,000 cars that were part exchanged?
Car dealers will be stuck with cars nobody wants!!!

And another set of massive power stations like Drax has to swing in to action to generate the electricity. Given that they're only about 40% efficient, then loads and loads of CO2 is generated out in the countryside - still goes up in the atmosphere just the same. I seem to have read once that there's only 1 engineer sitting as an MP. Doesn't it show?

Parkers guide on line has really good info on the proposed road tax charges. You can look up your car spec and it will give you the details for the next 2 years.

I went into this in a big way before buying my car. Some of the specs I was looking at would, potentially, set me back over £400 in 2010!!!
