sorry code is p2221 research says its emmisions or speed sensor or ! thats from site engine dtc

also says
1999 and later P2221 Mercedes Clk engines, the instrument cluster has a built-in self-diagnostic mode that can be accessed by pressing and holding the instrument cluster SELECT/RESET button. Insert the ignition key and turn to the RUN position (but don't crank or start engine). Continue to press and hold the SELECT/RESET button (for 5 seconds) until the word TEST is displayed by the odometer. Release the SELECT/RESET button within three seconds after the word TEST is displayed to begin the self-diagnostic mode.

can i be done on 05 clk 270 d

so recently had tyres exhaust and cataclean ,so maybe that / got nowt to do with box / try to get it into workshop to see if i have a plug sensor oil leek {plate) oil level checked though is ok

Get it on a proper code reader that will read correctly as its normally only cars in another country other than the Uk that the self diagnostic mode works ( they are not allowed to sell them unless they have some sort of diagnostic function inbuilt) , in the meantime plate symptoms usually go like this below which were my symptoms...
Sticking in gear
Slow to change up unless you sometimes lift throttle
Bangs into gear / thumps
Harsh 2-1 in slow traffic
Turn key off and restart and it will change gear again until it stays in one gear only again.
Repeated key off and restart works until it will eventually have enough and you have 2nd and reverse available only.

there is no indie close to me for reading ,same as no one near has a hunter . this wae read on a launch code rader and everything ever wrong on the car came up ,even a few recent things which were fixed , i think the p2221 is recent to tyres exhaust and general service and had not been cleared. at the moment its driving fine all gears even when pushed in auto or manual. mind i did leave the window open in an all night storm, not advised . but this gear thing goes to 3rd is just recent and not progressive to this point and has not happened again , it is i think a little overdue for oil etc but cleanish

If the gear selector gets wet weird things can happen .
I drove my 97 w210 for quite a few months having to pull over and restart until it went full limp mode so in my experience it wont leave you stranded.

wet was confined to the sill side and seat and was dried out carpets etc ,hot day and breezy no moisture in the sam section or wires to them dash dry even the door pockets were only damp , warmed the car windows shut no steaming up . i was lucky

well all done ,no sensor leak no oil leaks engine or box , loks all dry and dusty and the top end under plastic is dry aswell. g/box oil filter and oil flushed with 2+ litres ( does not like working in slurry )it was awful. its sweet now . so much for the garage that boasted he looked after the car as the customer is a regular.thars the second cock up i found the other was aux belt on wrong and snapped also went silly all rear arb ,mounts tracking aligned ,new exhaust, ouch
all i need to do is pcv valve there a little oil in the cooler
