Does anyone know what type of code reader is required for a 1998 V Class 230 van?
Is it an OBD1 or OBD2 type plug?
Aslo can anyone suggest a cheapish code reader/ scanner and reset unit.
Thanks

You should have the 38 pin socket under the bonnet, and a code reader will read engine and running faults, but not the internals and coding

I can normally put up picture of the position of the code reader socket OBD sockets have 16 pins but few MBs before 2000 with this.

There are adapters available to convert 16 pin to 38 pin but the cheap ones will only read engine ecu but probably wont work on something that old.
