Hi -I have a 2009 313 CDI Sprinter and I wondered if anyone could recommend a good fault code reader that I can use to view fault codes and clear them rather than having o run to a main dealer every time. The van has done 160K and I have a flashing yellow engine warning light that wont go out (it has come on previously but always went off again)

Hello again!
I have just spent over 1K getting this light extinguished by a MB dealer and am now thinking more than before that I need to find a way round having to run to a dealer every time a light comes on. Are there kits out there that will tell me what has brought up a light and allow me to cancel it?
I did feel pretty helpless when they rang me and told me all the faults they needed to address. The van is running beautifully now but I do find myself watching the dash and waiting for that dreaded signal to re-appear - is this justified? Are warning lights and limp modes part and parcel of owning an 11 year old Sprinter?

I have been told that for checking basic fault codes, this would do the trick. A friend of mine has this and has used this on Fords, Vauxhalls, Honda and MB, it checks the fault code and in some case extinguishes the light temporily whilst the issue is being resolved.

icarsoft MB V2.0 is recommended here a lot as it can read and understand MB specific codes

Very cheap and does read the 230 well. Ideal for chucking in the glovebox.
