2270mbar peak is about 33psi, which surprised me, then I realised with the engine not running 1002mbar was registering so peak was around 18psi, a bit more like it.

So by the looks of it, there isnt really a generic/universal tool out there unless I spend a shed load on something like a Snap-On.

There are plenty out there, it really depends on your needs and budget, the market for diagnostic tools is a minefield when you delve into it. I looked at a few and took a gamble on the CR Max as it seemed to fit my particular needs, I would hate to recommend one.

Foxwell and Autel also make multi manufacture tools. Snap on diagnostics not worth the premium.

For Mercs, nothing beat Star Diagnosis (Xentry/DAS). Cheap alternative, which covers wide range of vehicles is AutoCom or Delphi (same thing) with cloned DS150 interface. For non-commercial, DIY enthusiasts , Chinese clones will do.

That’s what I thought buddy , hence why doesn’t the multi car icarsofts tick the box
I came close to buying a Snap-On Solus from a friend 5 or 6 years ago, I enquired about updating the software and they wanted £1k.

Another thing that appealed with the iCarsoft series of readers is that there is no annual subscription for updates, admittedly that could change but it certainly put me off other offerings, I hope iCarsoft continue with this for the foreseeable who wants an annual subscription for a rarely used item. It will be interesting to see what happens as their more sophisticated offerings creep into the professional market what a disrupter that would be
