Code reading and resetting

Hi All,

Having been the proud owner of a lovely 1997 E240 for the long, long time of 3 weeks.......... and knowing that the guy who has mechanic'd my cars since I started driving can't read and reset codes using the computers he has, I decided to make a purchase......

So I am now also the proud owner of some nice software and a multiplexer with ODBII and 38 pin connectors.

I AM NO EXPERT.........

But if anyone is in need of having codes read and reset, and you'd like to travel to West Oxfordshire, and we can find a time that is mutually convenient, then please feel free to PM me. It would be good if, at the end of the day if the kit has been of some use to you, then a small donation may be appropriate, to cover the cost of tea or coffee and biscuits (I don't have the income of dealerships )

Please don't all shout at once and tonight will be the first time that I use the kit, so don't expect me to be an expert on all subjects

Success, ......... well sort of !

It reads ME data, have read through 7 pages of live ME data from my E240, the reset works too as when I first tried to interogate the unit it failed, reset and then all info came online.

Thanks to jibcl500, I now have a better understanding of what is going on(we have been pm'ing information) the kit I got is not all that it seemed to be, but jib has told me how to get it to work with other data streams........ so much more playing for me !

No probs, and this info really needs to go to all wishing to buy the carsoft and multiplexors found for sale on the net for £100 or so.

NOT ALL K LINES ARE CONNECTED!!!!! So many systems on the car cannot be tested, unless you buy a breaker box £50 or make something to work with the system. Or you could always just buy the correct equipment like I did..

I wouldnt say I spent many hours researching this equipment, well actually I did and it can be misleading as to what it can and cannot do so be warned.

I have a carsoft 7.4 interface with a breakout box using it on a W203 220 CDI.I havn't had much success it appears to try to connect to the car ,then says module not responding or not fitted.Any help from anyone with same kit who has got it working would be most helpful.

Not knowing your exact setup, it will not be easy to talk you through the process, please PM me with what you have and how you are trying to get results and I'll try to sort out what is going wrong for you. Once we've cracked it we can post the results here for everyones benefit.
