Coldstart Valve

I have a 1993 E220 with the w124 engine with bosch motronic fuel system. The car is reluctant to start from cold, it will eventually start after about 10 or so attempts, the idle is very erratic/. I have replaced fuel pump and filter relay and ovp relay. I am now looking for the fuel enrichment for cold start but cannot see it. any advice most welcome

I only have data up to 1990 the enrichment is coupled though the starter motor to start the enrichment

If you have an M111 engine then there is no cold start valve.

Many thanks for response, if there is no cold start valve, how is cold starting achieved

Most people change the OVP relay to solve the problem.

Says he's already changed the ovp relay Malcolm.
I suggest you clean out you throttle valve as it is probably gummed up, also check that the throttle return springs are in place as they have a tendency to break and fall off;http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.as...GM=717.413&CT=M&cat=19K&SID=07&SGR=160&SGN=03.

You need to check there is spark to all cylinders as it sounds as if only at least one cylinder is not firing hence the initial uneven running when it does start.

Perhaps one of the coils is breaking down.

Does it smooth out after it gets warm/hot ?????????????

Your car is all electronic for both fuel and ignition.

The "choke" fuction in electronic injection systems is achived by increasing the injection quantity when the engine is cold an entirly automatic process within the box of transistors. On some bosch electronic systems there is an auxilary air valve that provides extra air flow to incresase tick over speed whilst cold. the valve may be a bimetalic strip device or a stepper motor operated unit in a pipe that bypasses the throttle body, models with electronic throttle bodies just open the throttle a wee bit.

Yes I have replaced OVP. one of the springs was broken but I cannot make out from diagram where it should connect. all four cylinders are firing
