Not good news. Breaking stories suggest former rally champion Colin McRae has died with his 5 year old son in a helicopter crash in Lanarkshire close to the family home. He was 39. Colin is known to be a keen helicopter pilot.

This is not confirmed. But the story is here. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/more_sport/article2461339.ece

I stress that currently this is not confirmed. Let's hope.

OMG - I hope and pray that you are SO wrong.

If it is true, what a terrible, terrible waste - and a shocking tragedy for him, his son and family.

Does not sound good, he is well know for flying around up here in his helicopter. Lanark is not very far from me and it has been v windy tonight here and sheet rain but earlier around the time of the accident, it was not bad at all. Terrible shame for whoever was in the aircraft on its final flight

I just got back from work.
My colleagues at work in ATC were probably the last to speak to the Helicopter today near Lanark ........... very sad.
We were all shocked.

Steve Hyslop ( Racing bike champ) died in similar area/circumstances not so long ago also.

:-(

I think all on the Forum are hoping it's not Colin Mcrae and his son - but lets not forget that SOME poor soul or souls, have died.
