Iam thinking about buying Comand 2 navigation system to my C180K Coupe '03 car. But before I'll do that I need some advice from anyone with experience with it.
'03 unit is pre-facelifed model, and I'm wonder how good it is? And where do I find maps for this model (what software do I need, do they still update it?). If you have this unit in your car would you recomend it to your friend or someone else?
Fitting Comand 2 will probably cost me around £500 for the unit + antena + wires + fitting costs = around ... £XXX? Something like that. Or I could go for cheapest option and buy something like TomTom navigator or Acer PDA with GPS unit - both max. £300. And thats why Iam considering this unit.
I cant find too many pictures of that unit in operation on the Internet (pictures of menu, maps etc.). In my opinion pre-facelifted unit is not as good as new C Class Comand (after facelift >2004), TomTom or any other modern Navigation system. Is it because of old maps ? Firmware in the actual unit or is it just because its old ?

Could someone please convince me to buy it ? ;]

Thanks to everyone.

Firstly, i confess that I am biased when it comes to COMAND.

COMAND does a whole lot more than just navigation. It will control your phone, FM/AM, Cd, Cd changer and even TV. the biggest benefit other than the navigation is the improved head unit over the Audio 10 offerings. IT also works with your steering wheel controls which no other unit will do.

The newer facelifted comand units are better but the one for your car is still very good and does make the car look a whole lot better as well as improving the saleability of the vehicle.

If you want to see some images of COMAND installed then look at my gallery http://www.comand.co.uk

If you want to see a comand in action then there is an mpeg of mine Here

fitting is straight forward
