COMAND and TMC

Its happening soon. You need to nip to your local MB stealer to have your pockets emptied for the new TMC enabled disks to upgrade COMAND. Go now and ask.

From the spring Mercedes Magazine if they bang on about not hearing about it!

or hang around a bit and see if someone sells a few copies that work, on ebay....

I suppose these new Disk's will be around the £120 mark if most others are anything to go by.
You can't copy them either as the head units won't play copies I guess!!
At least they have sorted it though!

I bought the TMC cd direct from the Tele Atlas website about a month ago, March 2005 (about £170 with the VAT and postage). Just looked again and it is now not on their list ?

TMC is already working but the only radio channel which broadcasts the messages is Classic FM.

The comand booklet said the TMC had not been enabled in the UK. But nowt the licence issue have been sorted out I would think some other stations will adopt it.

One advantage is that you dont need to be listening to any radio station for it to work, just need the comand on and tmc enabled for your navigation system to use the signals. so even if only one station has it operational it shouldn't cause problems.

The teleatlas disks will work with the blaupunkt systems ie travelpiolot based DX systems. However, if you have a 2005 C class they have changed the units to Harman Becker and hence these disks are NOT compatible. I contacted MB HQ (Germany) last week and they still have no planned date for release of TMC software. All i have found out is that it will be later this year. A contact at ITIS has informed me that MB have now signed an agreement with them, so things are now finally moving. I guess it is now a waiting game! If you have only just purchased your car, you should be entitled to a free upgrade. I will let you guys know if i hear any more.

Forgot to say that MB charge £370 for the navigation disk (from the options brochure).!!!
