Comand and update disc 2004

Hi there,

Does anyone have a copy of the 2004 software update for w211 ( 17/04) comand please ?

My current version is 21/2003 and doesn't allow mp3 playback. (I don't really wont the 2005 version (51/05) as then i can't change the dvd region to all)

To let anyone with a similar problem in the future know - I have now managed to order a disc from a friendly MB parts chap.

Pm If you need it. ( I got the /04 version so i can still access hidden menu of the engineering setup).

My W211 has software 15/04 which I think could be the version for the SLK Head unit

Is the part number of the disk (SW-Rel 9.390 Build 17/04) you have acquired W211 589 06 22 00?

There is also an update disk (SW-Rel 1.91) for the navigation processor (in the boot) W220 589 04 22 00.

Any idea what the newer versions fix or do in addition? - apart from removing engineering and hidden menus

I do not think that a 2003 Comand can play DVD but not 100% on this

I have a 2004 navigation disc in my 53 CLK320. My friend has the latest disc in his 2009 CLK280. Can i just take his disk and use in my car ?

If its anything like my comand 2, then it will work with the update cd, but as soon as you use your original nav cd it will revert to the os version on that cd.

Thats correct as they use real time, as well as satellite

I have a copy of the Mercedes COMAND HEAD UNIT Service CD W211 589 13 22 00 SW-REL 21.090 30/06.

This lets me play MP3s CDs on the DVD player and now allows me to get time of arrival on the sat nav.

If you tell me the buttons to press to enter hidden engineering set up I'll let you know if it works.

No.

A 53 plated CLK will be Comand 2 whereas a 2009 CLK will most likely be a hard disk based system if not a DVD one. The disks are not interchangeable.

Comand 2 is Cd based. Comand in the MY2005 > MY2008 is DVD based. MY2009 is hard disk based. MY2009 (CLK) came out towards end of 2008.

There is an error in the above post of mine.

There is no hard disk CLK (W209) comand unit. The CLK stayed with DVD comand right up to the end of production.
