COMAND, Bluetooth auto disconnect

Hi Folks,

Just taken delivery of my new (to me anyway) R Class with COMAND and MB Bluetooth (HFP??). The bluetooth works great and pairs up beautifully with my Motorola K1 RAZR except... when I turn off the car, get out and lock the doors, I'd expect the bluetooth unit to disconnect from my 'phone. When I have the car parked on the drive at home, and I'm in the house, my 'phone and the car stay in range so anyone calling me gets to have a conversation with the inside of my empty, locked car...

My question to the massed ranks of the group (before I traipse into the dealership tomorrow) is: Can I somehow configure COMAND to turn off the bluetooth device in the car when I turn off the ignition or lock the car? I've ploughed through the byzantine COMAND menu structure and I can't find anything that seems to do that.:-(

Cheers,

Paul

With a normal phone and Command it can take 20min to go to sleep, it will turn it off automatically

Mine disconnects about 30m from the car. It won't reconnect until I open the car which is quite handy, although not quite so good when your in the middle of a call and you open the boot.

Don't know if this would work on the bluetooth setup, but when a phone is left in the cradle, the phone is turned off after a period. That period can be controlled by adding the Nachlaufzeit to the phone book with a phone number between 1 and 30 (minutes). There is also something there for caller id.
Maybe there is something similar for bluetooth disconnect.

Thanks guys. i'll try the "Nachlaufzeit" trick and report back whether it works. Where did you come across this solution, by the way?

Paul

Success! I set up an entry in my mobile 'phone with the name "Nachlaufzeit" and a number "1". Sure enough, about a minute after turning off the engine and locking the car, the car breaks the bluetooth connection to the 'phone automagically, even if I am still within bluetooth range of the car.

So, jberks, where did you find out about the clever "Nachlaufzeit" trick and is there any info about other commands that work in the same sort of way?

Thanks for all of your help folks:D

Glad to hear it works with bluetooth - you live and learn.
I think someone on here gave me this trick initially - wonderful things these forums!
I googled "Mercedes Nachlaufzeit" and found a manual page in German. I don't remember seeing anything in my english manual but I translated a bit of the web page and there is something about setting for 'caller id' in there. Not sure what that does though.
