Hi

I've just become the proud owner of a 54/2005 C220 with Comand APS. I am interested in updating the navigation DVD to the latest version which I thought after looking through this forum is v6.1.

Having ejected the current DVD from the Comand system, it states that it is version 2.2 on it (A 169 827 16 59 / 05). It has a Navteq logo and Harman/Becker logo on it.

Can I jump straight to v6.1 with Teleatlas mapping from the verion I currently have?

Thanks
Mike

Ther was 6.2 on eBay (from Germany) a few wks ago, but no-one seems to have seen it in the UK.
Part numbers shown in the listing where:

Being pedantic, Teleatlas just supply the raw map databases - Becker write the application and integrate the parts of the map that they see fit.

The DVDs have a bunch of .db files of them which are a mixture of program update files, voices and compressed & edited map data which the Becker application is able to decompress and access.

(this is why there is no easy way to add POIs etc to the Becker Nav).

I think its best described as "proprietary on purpose"...

Compare it with Tomtom where they leave all the POI data feeds readable so you can add whatever YOU want to see as POIs. Tomtom also uses Teleatlas as the map source.

Thanks for all your replies. Having done some further research, it would appear that 6.2 is the latest version for my system - part number B6 782 3674

No, I did mean Teleatlas as the original thread is for the C class.

currently the split fo Europe is:

Teleatlas-based : A/B/C/CLK/ML/GL/R Version 6.2 is latest

Navteq-based : E/CL/S/SL/SLK/CLS Version 5.1 is latest (free upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1 available from delaers under Service Measure PT 289 in the UK).

There is intense confusion over the map sources because Merc have chopped and changed over the years.

Apols, I didn't realise that Teleatlas did the APS DVD version for the 'C' et al. Sigh.

I was going to add APS to our W169 'A' class, but Braybrooks are quoting 2K+, so looks like a TomTom, instead.

apart from being all too nickable (the dirty circle on the window is enough for an exploratory window break in Sheffield) the Tomtom is vastly superior - full postcodes, nav to house numbers, touch screen address entry, easy POIs that you can download or swap with your mates, favourites that you can back up/transfer, speed camera database, 3-d view, routes that avoid tolls, cheap map upgrades - big list of extra function.
