Comand functions-how ??

Hi All
My Wife has just bought a 2004 E class fitted with the Comand system (Including CD changer.) We have read the instructions from cover to cover, but cannot understand one thing. Is it possible to use the satnav alone without the audio system being on? There doesnt seem to be a way to switch the stereo off independantly of the satnav. Is that right, or is there a way to do it ?

Surely this is not Comand but the audio 30 with APS

Now corrected-sorry (Yes it is 2004 !)

No that is not possible,, turn the Camand on with the TV button,,then push the Nav button and you will have heavenly silence apart from her in the Comand who will tell you where to go ( very politely)

Or turn on the Nav, then TV and press Nav

Press MUTE whilst the radio/audio source is on or turn the volume down when there is audio playing.

The Satnav volume is independent of the audio volume.

Anyone know how to do the opposite - just use the dash for sat nav instructions and turn her off?

Yes when she speaks turn the volume control down to the min and you will not hear her,,just do it when she is speaking,if you want her louder, then turn up the volume when she speaks

Press mute when she is speaking. The display can be turned off too, how to do it depends on which Comand unit you have.
