Comand Online Map Updates / Latest Version.

Does anybody know what the latest version of Europe Maps is?
I've got the 2020 V14.0 Europe version.

In the past, I have had mine updated by my main dealer and it took the best part of the afternoon to complete.

I was talking to someone in the dealership who now tells me that map updates are now done "Over the air" !! Can anybody corroborate this?

Mine was updated over the air around 3 days ago, a Mercedes GLC 2021 year.

It only takes the dealer about 30 minutes to update. I had mine done as part of a 2 hour “while you wait” service. Over the air is only available for later cars with MBUX so I assume yours, like mine, is pre-face lift so has NTG v5*2. I'm sure there as a post on this a month or two back and I think v14 is the latest for our cars. I’ll check on mine when I get a moment.

Sat Nav map update

Hi Andy Is your SD slot in the central arm rest storage box and if so did you just pop in the SD card and the nav read it ?? The comand system in prem plus models doesn’t work from a sd card, the slot is for media

As of November 2022, latest version for NTG5*2 is v15 and that is what the dealers put on mine in October 2021.

As far as I'm aware V15 is the latest, the last update was 2 years ago! Would anyone know when it is likely to get another update?
My TomTom is updated quarterly without fail and find I have to use that instead of COMAND if I travel anywhere with any new roads built in the last few years.
Very poor Mercedes!

No cheap alt then. Old man gave me a Tom Tom with lifetime updates. Think I will run that along command n use it for areas where command out of date.

Same as that. If goin somewhere no new roads OK.
I use in France, many many rural places not on system(benz) that are on Tom Tom and its NOT New just not found in command, I find it a ball ache as it will get me 2, 3 km away then??
Also it has a habit of referring me around on a circle while it trys to make its mind up. Often resolved by reseting same destination when close??

If you are out of your warranty period, they will charge you & you will also need to have a paid subscription if you want “traffic”. Amazing how they manage to monetise everything.

Insurance, car tax, maintenance.
None of which I have,except last 2. And I still think b hard about other expenses.

We are using ~2016 maps in the “old B Class”. We need to use it pretty regularly and have never felt that we need to have the very latest maps and have never get lost. I was using a 8 year TomTom purchased in Australia, and toured New Zealand, West side of the USA & part of Canada, Iceland & UK with it on old maps and never got lost.

It does make me wonder why people want to pay to have the very latest maps.

I remember passing through Orlando, Florida after they'd added extra lanes onto the I4 to alleviate congestion. The satnav had not been updated and directed me to take what turned out to be the off ramp into the centre of downtown Orlando. Took 30 minutes in rush hour traffic to get back onto the I4. Maybe a good reason for having the latest maps.

Yea there is always going to be one of those. Unusual to have old stuff in a rented car. Statistical outlier and we have Waze etc.

Waze is my go to. Never let me down!

My SLK is on 07 or 08 maps, I’ve not failed to get anywhere with it yet… mark one eyeball and road signs help…

When my wife drives, it becomes a fight - she blindly follows the satnav and I have to explain (repeatedly) to her exactly what you’ve said.

I still carry maps keeps me oriented. And I don't spend ages entering details.
