I have a Jan 2003 reg W 210 auto est 220 cdi with Comand factory fitted.

I recently bought some new Blaupunkt DX discs from "Carpe Diem" on Ebay and none of them will play on my system--the message "no navi cd,please change cd" keeps appearing. The discs relate to France 2007,Major Roads of Western Europe 2007/08 and United Kingdom--Ireland 2007/08.To be fair to "Carpe Diem" he has exchanged the discs, but I still have the problem.

My other other DX cd`s play on my system satisfactorily Espana ( new -Teleatlas) and Major Roads of Western Europe 2001 and UNITED KINGDOM 2001 (Blaupunkt copies purchased from Ebay 2 years ago )

Are you able to advise please?
Many thanks
John

Some "genuine" discs arent. I know they may look genuine and may even come in what looks like genuine packaging.
You have to be EXTREMELY careful buying nav discs anywhere other than official/registered suppliers.
Its probably as simple as that.
Send them back and ask for a refund. If they dont do what they are supposed to do, then thats not unreasonable.
The CD player in the COMAND unit is very fussy over what it will and what it wont read.
I have some home burnt discs it positively hates and wont even spit out without a few kind words and several attempts to eject.
I think COMAND units are female judging by their behaviour.

We had a lot of post some time back over this issue, and dave is correct on the non genuine ones, those bought from Tele Atlas and the other one always work and never a post of complaint

You need to buy genuine disks i'm afraid. I'd ask for your money back from the seller and point out that they are breaking the law! My teleatlas account manager would be very interested to hear about the seller;)

Alfie,
The seller says that my problem might be that my Comand needs updating to 2006 version.Does this seem plausible and if yes,how do I go about it at what approximate cost?
Many thanks

If your Command comes on with the MB logo then there are not any updates.

My car was updated 2003 and plays all of the disc that I buy from Tele Atlas direct and cheap, its on sale now at £98 for the 2007 disc, I do not know when the 2008 comes out

Malcolm,
My car is one of the last W210`s,registered in Jan 2003 and bought from Mercedes Benz in Basingstoke (Tony Purslow ).It has Comand factory fitted and its Vin No is WDB2102062X096839.
Does this mean that what the seller has said does not ring true?
Regards
John

It is not true, as I said my car is just a little older than yours and mine will play all of the genuine DX disc right up to this year. Also Europe and Sweden

We have had at least 15-20 post on this matter both her and elsewhere and always the same story from Ebay disc.

he is trying to worm his way out of it by saying that it is your unit, but if your unit plays what you have, that shows its OK

There is no update for this and there never has been

disc problem?

My vehicle is a late 2000 S Class.

I have just purchased a Blaupunkt DX Major roads of Western Europe 2007/2008 from Boreham Car Electrical who I believe to be genuine. This gives a CD read error but my Uk teleatlas 2007 DX seems to work fine.

We will see what the dealer has to say on monday.

Both have an inscribed barcode and file name around the centre of the disc that matches the detail on the disc's text file which would appear to be the way to tell a genuine disc.

Its true about eBay sellers selling copied DX CD's. I have bought 3 so far all from different eBay sellers and they were all fake (advertised as 100% genuine and even made to look genuine with correctly copied packaging and shrink wrap etc.) In the end I got a refund each time (which I was lucky to get) and just bought an original 2007 DX TMC Blaupunkt disc from navshop.com for just £100 delivered on special offer :D

Hello Phelps,
It may interest you to know that I will be returning my discs to an address in Borehamwood----coincidence eh ?

Hello John

Does seem either there is a faulty batch if they are genuine and I must say they look it.

I actually live in cyprus and I did wonder whether the GPS fix being outside the map area was stopping it opening but then why does the UK one read.

Just to satisfy myself I am going to friends tomorrow who also has an S class same year to see what works in his car just to establish whether there is some weird fault on the Comand unit.

I'll keep you posted
Colin

I tried my Western Europe DX CD in another Mercedes comand unit and I had the same, error reading CD message.
Spoke to Boreham and asked outright whether CD was a copy and he took immediate offence saying he was a Tele Atlas agent but has offered to replace disc so whatch this space!
