I bought a spare Comand 2 from a smashed car today for my R230 SL500, mainly because I intend to keep the car for the next 20 years, and nice to have a spare.

It only took 17mins to take the old one out and re fit this one. The stored destinations show that it came from a German car, also as it had some of the plugs in the rear just cut off, it did verify that it came from a wreck

The thing is it works perfectly but the mapping is so different from my old one, its all different, the mapping shows every little village and detail, I have a bigger range on the scaling, the screen colours are not the same, nor are the funtions.

Its 100 times better than my old one, the daft thing is these Comands on the 230 had a short run on my car, 5 months to be exact, really odd, but nicer.

Even the linguaretronic lady is 10 years younger

That's all well and good - but do we have a spare Malcolm to get us through the next 20 years or so - just in case.;)
