S350 Bluetech W221 2011
Hi All

i have a S class 350 bluetec which i have had since 2011. it was registered in 2010 and it has become my spare car over the last 4 years. so much that i dont drive it that much and have only clocked 101K. i think i must do 200 miles per month if that.

It has had full MB service when its warranty was in place and since then third party services, but where i havent done many miles regularly it just has had typical oil/filter type services.

I've recently noticed it seems to be sluggish at changing gears and with a bit of checking i notice it doesn't seem to want to change up from 5th gear; i can get it to 80-85mph which i feel seems to take longer than it used.

two days ago it popped up ADblue car wont start after 2000 miles, so i put ADblue in. 25 litres and can see in the spout that it definitely is full, but it keeps popping up with an ADblue message (not the one that indicates it wont start in x miles).

i used a ODB tool and it read different codes. On the first scan it read :
P20BD
P203D
P0C43
P20BD

then on the second scan.
P0405
P2BAD
P2BA8
PSBA9

I'm at a point where i dont know how expensive this would be too repair or the hassle and dont want to be taken for a ride so was wondering what peoples thoughts were.

if anyone knows an essex bsaed mb specialist and has had good experience i would appreciate some pointers.

I don’t know those codes.

However the adblue, as it’s not on a countdown, you may get away with a bit of use (such as motorway stints and just leave it in 5th to keep the revs up a little). The adblue injector may need cleaning of deposits.

Similar to you, I have a low mileage one which I use for the odd weekly grocery trip and then weekly for a motorway jaunt. I replace and fill the adblue every 6 months and throw in a bottle of anti crystallisation additive. I also go the long way round so small trips just to get it have a good 20 minute run at least as well as try and give it few licks such as booting it on the slip roads or, just keeping the revs up manually if forced to dawdle.

How is the battery on the car with such little use? Perhaps a trickle charger may be in order to try and help keep it decent. I personally use a Noco genius.

As for a specialist, despite a little extra travel, you’d be in good hands with @star and @alexanderfoti, where you will not get taken for a ride and get chaps who genuinely know their stuff and thus, save you time, money and stress overall.
