Comma air conditioning cleaning aerosol?

My wife complains of a nasty smell when the aircon is on in our S210. I can't smell a thing, but that doesn't count.

We have mouldy air-con, I assume, and I have coughed up for a aerosol can from Comma. You put it in the back of the car, turn on A/C to full with recirculate, and press a button on the can - it discharges itself completely into the cabin, and gets sucked into the aircon gubbins, presumably killing the fungi and mould in there.

We are slightly concerned that it will affect our interior - has anyone used it?

Most grateful, etc.

I have seen those cans before, seems to work for a short while. Change your pollen filter and buy a couple of cans of cleaner that you spray down the actual inlet duct, this will coat all the plastic of the ducts and work its way through to the evaporator, it is the evaporator that is the culprit but not always easy to get to, if you can get to the evaporator section better still, spray into that.

These are what the trade use for professionally cleaning commercial and industrial cooling coils for all applications. The Frionett Clim is what we would use in a car, doesnt go far and a couple of cans are normally required and it works better if you can clean the coils with Frionett 1 or 2 first if all acessible of course.

The fungus smell can be an indication of things growing in the system which can cause people with chest conditions distress and kick off asthma attacks.I know that one recommended treatment I tried which worked was, as posted above is to turn the heating temp up to MAX . Leave it running thus for 15 mins to cook off the spores.

Hello, a little feedback to the think tank (ha!)

As we'd bought the can, we thought we'd give it a bash, but thanks for the other suggestions. Apart from the one about smelly balls. I use a different spray for that problem.

So - it worked very well, and 'er indoors now complains of no significant niffs, beyond those emanating from the child seat and dog areas.

BUT - if anyone else does this, please put an old towel over your centre console (without obstructing the vents) - it leaves a helluva lot of moisture on the area around the gearstick especially - takes alot of wiping up, and I'm sure isn't brilliant for the longevity of the surrounding switches.

If it comes back I'll try the roasting..

Thanks!
