Driving in the sunshine yesterday when there was a soft "fut" and I was suddenly deprived of my favourite Pink Floyd. Command screen was blank and the unit has refused to power up since.

My fuse chart highlights f57, f77 and f64 as covering the Command/Radio unit. f57 and f77 are located where they should be (behind the driver seat) but there is a gap where f64 should be. (no holder, wires or anything)

It seems as if the unit has lost it's power feed - does anyone know if there is an alternative location for f64 - on the back of the unit for example?

Thanks

Hi Malcolm and thanks - I was overjoyed to find that I do have an f66 - a 25A job but then saddened to find it intact. I do have Bose by the way. Are there any other places to look please?

Yes one on the rear of the comand, but it must be pulled out to get to it, I take it you have the wide screen APS unit.

I don't think so - it's a pretty pokey thing - screen is probably about 4" wide - has an analogue TV, disc satnav, remote CD changer. Used to sound good though...

It's the unit before the one with a Fakra connector (as I found out last time I had the unit out!)

OK you will have to remove the side panels on the console. ( I must do a DIY for this)

Seats down and back.
pry off from the rear top all the way along and there are 2 hooks in the front.

Remove the 3 inset screws each side (not the ones holding the top on)

Remove ash tray

lift out gear change cover and pull back inside out.

Undo gear know by ½ turn of the bottom nut.

Unscrew drink holder, then pry off right hand blank.

Ease up console cover a touch at rear

Gently pry away the top around the comand

Then lift the panel to one side.

Remove the 2 screws holding the comand head unit in

Ease it back so you can unplug the optic lead..

The fuse is on the rear.

The heavens have opened in Yorkshire so a task for tomorrow. What is the optic lead? An optical link from the CD changer?

You cannot miss it, two thick cables in one plug and do not bend them, they are optic, yellow I think.

The plot thickens.....went to the car this morning only to find that the unit has mysteriously come back to life? Not quite sure what I did - other than remove and replace all of the fuses behind the drivers seat to confirm they were all OK yesterday. Anyway, Pink Floyd were once more in good voice and fingers crossed it stays that way. Thanks for help Malcolm.

Anything digital can lock up and freeze, removing the fuses does unlock it all, I tell members to do this all the time with good results, it just did not enter my head this time round.:-|
