command has suddenly stopped working pls help!!!

hi people,

my mercedes e270 cdi command which includes sat nav, dvd-cd player and radio has suddenly stoppped working. Also the panel below it (6 cd changer) button does not respond neither. i cant open the 6 cd changer. When i switch on the command all i can see is the mercedes logo and then it goes blank. What seems to be the problem, do you think the fuse has gone or something or does it need a reset?

Well if theres no power then id certaintly try the fuse

if that didnt work id try d/c the battery, but remember if you d/c battery various settings will be lost, you may have to reprogram onetouch windows just by simply pressing windows switch all the way down and holding for 5secs then all the back back up and holdking for 5 secs again, then you may possible get some errors on your dash, bas?esp? cant remember exactly which ones, but to clear that you turn your steering wheel from full left lock to full right lock 3 times,.. people reccomend you do this whilst moving slowly so that you do not put excessive strain on the steering components.

ALSO when D/c//Reconnecting the battery make sure key is out of the ignition as i heard some cars can blow the rear SAMs???

some people even say to have your lights on, so that any surge is taken up by the lights..

NOTE! after RE-reading your post, if the unit has power (IE logo coming on)then surely it cannot be a fuse...or power supply issue????????? still i guess pulling the fuse to reset the power wont do it any harm...

Hi, I had this same problem on my CLS - the dealer had to replace the whole Command unit..although the replacement is also faulty...dealer tells me these units are not the most reliable.

This to me sounds like a fault in the fibre loop.

This is characteristic of such a fault. When the fibre is broken or disconnected, the comand unit will come on for about 15 seconds then simply power off. The fact that your Cd changer does not work implies it could be that that has caused this. Both these devices are connected via fibre to your AGW in the boot.
