I just lost my Mercedes virginity two weeks ago when I bought a 1999 CLK 230 Cabrio 'Sport'. I am appealing for help to get to know my car. I cannot find pages on the internet referring to common faults- which is reassuring. There are a few things which bother me;

1. It is fitted with standard 16" alloys which (although I'm not an XR2 driver) look decidedly small. Should I upgrade to 17 or 18", and if so will anything else need to be tweeked with?

2. I am feeling quite a bit of feedback from the road (in the front wheels) through the accelerator pedal/floor. Is this normal?

3. The clutch has stuck a couple of times and I found it hard to select a gear. Is it electronic? I wouldn't imagine having problems at 67,000 km's.

4. Whilst trundling along through town the car tends to be unable to maintain a steady speed and is a bit juddery. It is coming up for a service. Could that be the problem?

5. One of the Parktronic sensors at the front indicates an obstruction at various distances when there is in fact nothing in front. Is it new sensor time?

Are there any common faults that I need to look out for?

i've had my clk 230 sports Komp convertible for just over a year now & the only problem i've ever had with mine is that the esp light kept illuminating. It went into a mb dealer & they sorted the problem out under the warranty. I went from standard 16' alloys to 18' brabus without having to change anything else. The ride has changed as in its not as smooth as it was with the standard alloys. As for the other problems you've mentioned i dont really know what to say as i have not & hopefully never will experience any.
