Can anyone advise please..... I need to unplug all the switches on the centre consul of my 1999 ML 320 [ ESP, Low Range Selector, Seat Heater etc.]. A friend suggested caution as he thought the cars computer may not like this and loose its settings!! Is this possible, and is there any way around this problem? Many Thanks.
Concerned about upsetting ML 320 ECU.

Its no different to having the battery off, nothing will happen,providing you do the work in days and not months.

Disconnect the negative - side of the battery first, otherwise I see no problems.
