Hi, 1st post here. Great site.

We have recently (within 3 weeks) bought a 2nd hand A140 X-reg from MB Direct and the air con was not blowing cold so before we collected it they re-gassed it and all was fine for 2 days and then same thing again.

We took it in today and they informed us that the condenser has been perforated by a stone and this would require replacing. This is not covered by warranty.
However as this was a fault when we bought the car they will not charge us for any of the work. Rightly so.

I asked them if this is common as it seemed a little strange that this could happen. Their answer was 'it is more common than you would think'

My question here is: Does this happen a lot? Is this something that could have happened rather than just a faulty condenser?

Regards,
Jeff

sorry to say it is a VERY common problem, i left a dealer a month ago and see nearly one or two a week, must say tho if they had to regas it and it only lasted 2 days then it was leaking when you bought it, unless a stone went thro it on the way home!!!

Yes, I agree, it was almost certainly faulty before we bought it. Thus the garage has agreed not to charge us.

Many thanks for the reply.
