2012 W204 C220 CDI AMG SPORT
Hello everyone!

Very new to the forum! I have recently purchased a 2012 W204 C220 CDi AMG sport, its my first Mercedes and im absolutely in love with it.

I have noticed the stop/start doesn't work and the ECO either stays amber or disappears. I do know the system needs certain correct parameters to work and can be a waste of time.

The car is very low miles with little use so I can understand the batteries being no good. Main battery has been replaced recently however I have tested both main and aux batteries. Aux battery failed so has been replaced......stop/start still not working!

I had a DTC system scan today with a snap on verus and I have C1207 - There is an internal fault in control unit N30/4. I have no ABS/ESP faults or warning lights. Now this to me indicates a ABS pump fault however when searching for the code online it relates to a stop lamp switch fault. Can anyone on here confirm what the code is related to?

I know if there is a fault in the braking/abs system the stop/start will not work so I feel this is my cause for the lack of stop/start.

Any help/info will be much appreciated.

Brake light switch that sits at the top of the brake peddle is a common failure item and does cause all sorts of issues, they are about £25 from Mercedes and easy to fit yourself, personally I’d bite the bull it and change it out

Try MB Grangemouth, they have a discount to forum members.

Also I’m not sure about the Snap On readers, but typically unless you’re using Star or Xentry workshop systems, the only readers designed to work with MB come from ICarsoft.

But you’ve had 4 MBs now, tut tut you’ve missed one and some poor unsuspecting sole now has to change it :p:p
The second one was brand new, so in its defence didn’t need changing ;)

A question - is the switch on top of the pedal on 2012 models, or is it on the servo?
There was a change on the 204's I seem to remember.

A C1207 error is a classic example of where the description from a general purpose scanner can be misleading.
C - Chassis
1 - Manufacturer specific
207 - the error code.

The manufacturer specific indicator means the code is manufacturer specified and not generic and may be model specific as well.

Star/Xentry (the MB dealer diagnostic tools) would likely give a very different description (and a quick Google suggests the brake switch failure mentioned above).

I got a snap on one with latest software….

it seems far harder to use and less useful than the much cheap autel one I have....
some stuff goes deeper but not sure I trust they know what they are doing....
only finds 48 modules where autel finds 50 and seems to know more in live data on most of them than the snap on one
