Hello,

It is time to clean and treat the leather seats in our ML 350. I assume that the leather used on MB seats is sealed but should be most grateful if anyone could confirm my assumption.
For info, I am looking at using the Connolly hide care products. Any comments from anyone in respect of the Connolly cleaner and conditionner when applied to MB seats will be most welcomed.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Luc

Used to use connolly hide food in a Jag, now use Autoglym Leather Cleaner and cream products, only reason for change is that I could not find Connolly products anymore. Just cleaned mine last weekend.

I think you will find that Connolly Bros went bankrupt some years ago.
My SL with the roof down, takes quite a beating from the sun, and I use a sadlecleaner and then Sadle soap. It soaks right in, makes the seats very supple and smells good. When I was with The Rolls Royce club we used Neats foot oil, but I do not know if that is still around, still sadle soap contains no artificial products that can damage the skin or stitching.

Many thanks to both of you for your replies.

I can only assume from the above posts that the MB leather is sealed and will be ok with a leather cream product.
For info, the Connolly kit is now avalaible from a company called Hide care ltd, following connolly's sale if its cleaning products interests.
I have used their kit in the past on various made of cars (mostly british) but was wondering if the leather used by MB would agree with the Connolly products.

Again many thanks and kind regards,

Luc

I ran out of Connolly Hide food while cleaning seats the other day & couldn't find any in the local horsey shop. I bought some Carr & Day & Martin (by appt to The Q.) Leather Balsam.

Makes the seats look GREAT, but it's MUCH oilier (beeswax & lanolin) & has a powerful smell, which goes away after a day or so. Anyone else used this stuff?

Use sparingly, they say!

I have just bought some Gliptone Liquid Leather Car Seat Cleaner and a Separate Gliptone Conditioner as this appeard to be the most favoured product by other MB users for their interior leather in other threads! I have not tried it out yet but will report if there are any problems!
