Newbie here.....

I currenlty own a 2004 Cadillac CTS-V and will probably be selling it in the near future.

One vehichle that's caught my eye is the MB CLS 500. Since i know nothing about MB, i have a few questions.

1) What's the standard warranty for MB?
2) Are extended warranties avaialbe? If so, how long is the OEM warranty extended
3) How is MB as far as performing warranty work goes? My Cadillac dealership always fixes my problems, no questions asked. I've dealt with many dealers that try to scheme out of making warranty repairs.

4) Anyone care to opine on ANYTHING about the CLS (reliability, etc.)?? ?

Thanks in advance.

S500L 2001, gone but, never forgotten
Cls500

Have a look at my post "Parked for three+ years", if I am right the engine in the CLS is the same as in my S500.

My Warranty was not worth the paper it was printed on.

The 7 speed box on the CLS is only good for 12-18k before it needs replacing, if looking for 2nd hand ask if the box has been changed, common on the early CLS 350 and 500, AMG version dont suffer because the still use the 5 speed.

Are you in the US? Warranties will differ from us in the UK.
CLS is a proper car compared to a caddi which is a plastic fake in comparison (and yes I have driven one.) So its a step up.
Can't comment on the gearbox but I can't imagine the 12-18k is an actual statistic. I dare say there may have been some early issues but I imagine most are fine.

Unknown to me but the 320 CDI dont suffer like the petrol versions, very odd, customer had gearbox failure at 16k, he want documented proof that the box was changed, Mercedes wouldnt give him any paperwork to support the gearbox swap, his brothers identicle car also failed at 18k. Both 350 petrol.

odd as normally its the torque that kills them and the 320cdi will be roughly the same as the 500 so the 350 should be easy on them in comparison. Did they buy them together? Maybe a duff batch or something.
