Hi ,i need advice plzz im new to this ,inherited my dads sl500 2002 everything fine except rear consumer battery? It dies over night. I drive it for for around 10 mins and everything comes to life ie full air con ,roof retracts ect . I live in London in a flat ,no garage so no mains power to use a trickle charger ie ctek . Ive 2 questions 1st can i use a booster power pack on the ctek trickle THING ? over night? I dont mind charging the power pack up in my flat, 8th floor . Second question can i just pop of the battery terminals and pop back on to conserve battery drainage??? Thankyou for any advice..

Welcome to the forum:)

How old is the consumer battery?
If its more than 4yrs old it may well be due for a change.
Could you remove it overnight and charge it using a conventional charger to see if it holds a charge?
If you can, and its flat again within a week you probably need a new consumer battery.

I wouldn't be sure on the usage of a battery booster pack, but you can disconnect the negative terminal on your consumer battery for a short term fix.
Make sure you can open the door using the metal blade key in the end of the fob as the remote may not unlock the car with the consumer battery disconnected?

Welcome, if you have a Ctek it will certainly charge up a good battery overnight. But if it goes into conditioning mode it will take a lot longer.
I would charge it & see how it goes. If you are still having problems put it on a conditioning program, on a night you can leave it on longer.
Otherwise its a new battery.

The size of the drain and whether it's a single source would provide clues.

Stop start battery, I think it might be the wrong battery??
Is it possible for you to put a volt meter on the battery in the morning to check the volts. Then start the car and take another reading. If the battery doesn't show 14+ volts at idle it might well be not up to the job if it is like you say, new.
