I have an SL350 on an '05 plate with Xenons.

I'm planning a trip to France next month and need to switch the headlamps so they don't blind the locals.

Does anyone know what's involved or is it a dealer conversion?

There should be a lever in the back of each light to adjust it. Pls see the attached http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/s...hould also be detailed in your owners manual.

Bobcat is correct with the levers, though the lever was shown in the 129 handbook, it is not shown in the 230 serries cars, all it says is refer to dealer.
I was rather shocked and I only saw it yesterday in my book.

...it's bright yellow in colour.
And be very careful, the levers are prone to breaking off, repair is not possible, replacement of the headlamp unit would be the only option.

Thanks for the speedy responses....

I've just had the bonnet up and I couldn't find a small yellow lever (or any other lever).....I've taken the covers off the main Xenon unit as well as the side lights (it's very tight on the drivers side, ABS system is in the way!)

Any other ideas.....I'm going to take another look now

They are right in the front of the lamp unit, they are there, I had to look hard to find them.
If you still cant find them I will look tonight to see if there is anything special. I need to know for my own car.

On my 06 C203 the Xenon adjusters are in a different position on the nearside and offside headlamps, this was news to the dealer after they'd already change the nearside unit once as the adjuster wasn't there.

The revised position is on the grille side of the lamp just beneath one of the mounting bolts. It's a smaller lever (even harder to see) than previously. I think they are in the process of deleting the old adjuster to save people the trouble of breaking them. Hence why mine has different units left and right.
