That depends on how often the warnings are appearing....is this the first time that you know of? If it was me, I'd get the fault codes cleared, make sure that it's at the correct level, and drive on, keeping an eye on the level in the expansion tank.Hi eveyone , Im getting a message saying " Coolant , visit workshop " The level is topped up and no leaks , is it a sensor fault ?
Hi , its been doing it for 3 days , every time i start. Keep checking tank , its ok . Drove 40 miles in 30c. it was ok , no overheating. That depends on how often the warnings are appearing....is this the first time that you know of? While theres still visible coolant in the header tank, it should not over heat. There's a max _min setting within the tank, and when it drops below the min mark, that will trigger a warning on the dash. But if the low warning light comes on, and you check it after it has cooled down, and its empty, then its a case of " Heuston, we have a problem ". That's workshop time, or local friendly MB mechanic. Its not to be neglected, for sure!!! But if it's coming on repeatedly, and yet the coolant is at the correct level, then it's the sensor. It often happens that the electrical connection plug to the tank needs to be removed and the connection's cleaned.Hi , its been doing it for 3 days , every time i start. Keep checking tank , its ok . When you check the header tank are you just looking at the stain line from outside or taking the lid off and checking? Quite a few times it can look ok with the stain but it’s actually lowHi , its been doing it for 3 days , every time i start. Keep checking tank , its ok . Will check the sensor connection next , is it just a twist and pullout type ?While theres still visible coolant in the header tank, it should not over heat. On my 2014 E class, it's a little ear like plastic retainer which you open gently with a small flat screwdriver or facetester and pull the terminal off .You gently ( again) clean the terminals and that should do it, if that's what is wrong. Will check the sensor connection next , is it just a twist and pullout type ?
I have unplugged the connector and tried cleaning contacts , but still showing. It is on bottom of tank , a push in fitting , so fluid will come out when removed , have to be prepaired for that . anyway thanks again for your help.On my 2014 E class, it's a little ear like plastic retainer which you open gently with a small flat screwdriver or facetester and pull the terminal off .You gently ( again) clean the terminals and that should do it, if that's what is wrong.
