Coolant sensor help

Hey good people

I'm after some help if possible?

I have a B CLASS 2012 w246 petrol

I'm hoping someone can help me?

So I've located ther thermostat at the back of the engine underneath the air intake manifold but was wondering if the coolant temperature sensor is built into the thermostat or is it a stand alone sensor that bolts to the block?

I'm yet to take the manifold off to see but just wanted to know in advance if anyone knew or had pics or diagram

Further to the above, the Coolant temperature sensor is separate from the thermostat.
