Hi,
I am a new member and Merc owner. M C200, with which I am very pleased, let me down on Saturday. Firstly coolant warning light came on intermittently a few times. Coolant level is fine. Stopped for lunch, noticing that radiator fan was running, and on return found battery flat. Fan will not switch off, though, when disconnected everything else, except for the internal heater system, appears to work perfectly. Any ideas??
John.

Hi John and welcome, you have water in the fan control box, just follow the wires from the fan to the little black box. It may be possible to dry it out and be OK, the wires going into the box need to be sealed.

Hi Malcolm,
Thanks for such speed. There is a connecting box, from which I disconnected the fan, about half way up at the side of the radiator. Is this the fan control box, as it seems to be perfectly dry. The wires then just disappear into a loom. It seems like a simple problem, I do hope so.
Cheers, John.

hi John

are you sure the coolant level is ok ? at least on my C220 (1995) the radiator extra coolant supply is built on top of the radiator and if it's low then you'll see the radiator coolant warning bulb coming on

just a thought, try topping it up until it won't accept another drop,
cheers
