Just a little info I've found regarding this useful function.

I recently had this enabled on my car although I don't have Xenons (contrary to what the dealers say) and although it's an improvement it's not as illuminating as I had hoped!

I had a check through EPC and confirmed my suspicions, the part numbers are different for the fog lights on cars with Xenon headlights (and therefore the "official" cornering function) also the bulbs are different, 55w H7 as opposed to 51w HB4.

My guess is that the lenses are designed to throw more light to the sides than on the "normal" fogs.

A quick check and it's a £178 parts cost for the swap, not sure how easy they are to change.

Maybe you guys already knew this but it was news to me!

Just discovered something else I didn't know.

When turning whilst reversing the outside cornering light illuminates. i.e. reverse left and the right fog lamp comes on.

I stand to be corrected but I belive all cars after 2005 have this function, MB wanted ££££ to have it as an extra I just enabled it using star.

Dealers insist you must have Xenons for this function to be enabled....

But as you say it can be enabled by Star, but only by Star. I'm not sure but if you have Xenons you can enable/disable this function using the cluster menu.

As I posted above if you have xenons you will have slightly different foglights and bulbs. These may well give a more pronuced effect than that achieved by standard fogs.

Malcolm if you wish I'll look at star and write the sequence and which menu it's in for you to have a go, nothing to loose, but it will have to be activated with star. I'm not sure about the bulbs, surely it would be a simple case of changing the bulbs, I've not checked but I'm sure mine are H7 and if there not they are a simple change, I doubt the lenses will be different, I think at times we think MB are better than they are, it's all about cost, but I may be wrong never realy looked at it. The down side of this function is people always say, 'you've got a light out', handy for getting into the garage etc though.

When cornering lights go out they fade slowly ~3sec. Very different to other lights :)
