This may sound silly but there seems to be confusion and discrepancy about which is the correct battery for my car. Some sites say 019 whereas others say 096. I'm fairly sure it's 096 as the current (original) battery is 74 amp hour and the 019 type is physically larger with greater capacity. So, in essence I'd like to order a Varta Silver Dynamic E44 (096) from Tanya batteries but need to know it'll fit. Their own website shows 019 for my car which l feel is wrong.
Can anyone with a 209 confirm that the 096 is the correct battery please.

Oh thanks for that. It does say that indeed now but I’m sure earlier it came up with 019, maybe against my reg number.

Update. Having removed the cabin air filter to get a good look at the existing battery and deciphering the Merc part number, l've now managed to establish that the correct battery is a 096. However mine is 175mm tall rather than the standard 096 battery which is 190mm tall. Seems l need a Varta E38 which is classified as 096/100 and this is the correct height at 175mm. Confusing or what?

Will the extra height of 1/2 an inch cause any problems as far as you can see.

Things to note are
1. Clearance between the terminal connector and the bonnet
2. The length of the + and - leads.

Well l think I'd probably get away with the extra height if l fitted the taller version. However l'm going to order the lower version as that appears to be identical to my current battery. This way l shouldn't experience any difficulties in fitting.

Sorry but another maybe stupid question.
Have decided on a Varta E38 silver dynamic battery but l'm just trying to ascertain whether it has a carrying handle/s like my current battery. It's not obvious from the Tayna website picture but l'm assuming all these Varta batteries have an integrated (fold down handle). I need it to have a handle otherwise it's going to be very difficult to lower it down into position in the bulkhead area due to restricted access.
Anyone able to advise please?

Thanks Matt. What l thought actually but you never know and l haven't bought a battery in years! I'm a stickler for researching everything before doing a job or spending money, since experience has taught me some tough lessons in the past. Your response is appreciated.
