A non-MB specialist garage removed the correct MB battery for my C270 and replaced it with an aftermarket battery - similar but not exactly the same specs.
Now I am having electrical issues.
Can anyone please tell me how to find the specs of the original MB battery? I remember looking at this years ago and only an MB OEM battery had exactly the same specs.
Thank you.

According to the EPC, you could have one of 2 different output batteries fitted. Either 12v 74Ah or 100Ah.
Enter your Vin # into this website and see what is shown under section 54 Electrical equipment and accessories for the battery spec.
The first 6 numbers should be sufficient to pinpoint your car. (eg 203.216)

I would have thought from the age and capacity of your car, check battery dimensions, you need something like this?

or higher battery capacity

I am fairly sure my CLK270 had the 74AH battery.
Was the battery fully charged when it was fitted to the car, & have you used it regularly?
if you have a charger put it on charge overnight then check the battery voltage, should be at least 13 volts.

Thank you, AMGeed
I followed your instructions through to this page
There are 3 specs of battery: 74AH, 95AH, 100AH.
Separately, I have found a VIN build sheet which states "Equipment 673 HIGH CAPACITY BATTERY".
Therefore, I think that this confirms, as in your posting, that the correct battery is the 100AH.
Question 1): There is a 95AH also listed - would it do any harm to use a 100AH if it should be 95AH?
Question 2): Should the replacement be Lead Acid or AGM?
Thank you again.

The bigger capacity battery gives you more reserve power.
If you do a lot of stop start, or don’t use the car a lot go for the bigger capacity.

Hi Drivencrazy,

If you post up your car's VIN, then someone on here with EPC can give you the exact battery reference ( I no longer have EPC).

If I were you, I'd go to your local MB and get the correct battery from them (probably Bosch). From my experience, it serves no useful purpose putting in a larger capacity battery than the original.

Q1. There is no harm using a higher specification battery. But check the physical size to make sure whatever you choose will fit the battery tray.
Q2. I think you will have a lead acid battery. The AGM battery is used on stop start models and was fitted to some earlier AMG performance cars.

I would make a note of the Mercedes Part# of the battery you want and if you have a Mercedes commercial dealer nearby, get a quote from them. They'll most likely be cheaper than the Mercedes car parts dep't.
Then see if its cheaper than this one, assuming it physically fits.

The CLK came with two different batteries depending on the spec of the car. The battery tray will accomodate either size, but the part to hold the battery in place is different. If you change to a bigger or smaller battery, you will need the correspondingpart that holds the battery in place.
