Hi guys,

There is a whine coming from my 190 cossie,

it gets higher and lower with the engine. It does it wheather the clutch is pressed or not. And also if the car is stationary.

I had a cheap clutch fitted a year and a half ago as the release bearing collapsed on the old one,

Any ideas how to narrow this noise down?

Thanks

Chris

I would try disconnecting the fan belt could be water pump, alternator or steering pump, more than likely to be the alternator.

Sounds like an alternator, had one go earlier this year.

Ok, so we recon, go for taking the belt of and running it for a few minutes,

I replaced the alternator last year and the water pump, but thats not to say they havent gone again, its on the original power steering pump tho.....
