Hi, I want to buy a CLK 280 convertable, about 6 months old or less, low mileage. I have seen a few that suit for about 36k. What I would like to know is the costs involved in running it. I will be getting the remainder of the MB warranty, is that enough or are there hidden costs? What MPG am I likely to get? How much are the tyres etc. My present car is a BMW M3 02 reg out of warranty and it is a money pit. Is a newish CLK 280 gonna be the same? I am hoping the warranty is gonna cover most costs that I may encur.

Thanks so much for any advice!

There are no major issues that are going to bite but clearly with any expensive car things can and do go wrong and cost a fortune. For example - when my rev counter failed to light up (hardly serious on the face of it), the repair bill would have been the wrong side of £850 had I not been under warranty.

You can take out "service plus" that eliminates hidden costs and includes everything, bar tyres. Get a quote from the dealer. Failing that you can buy an extended warranty but generally service plus is better value as it covers expected as well as unexpected costs.
I'd expect better mpg from the 280 but it's still no diesel.
