Costs, to replace alternator and battery

Hi

Are these costs reasonable? To replace an alternator and battery at a indy MB garage?
The total costs, to replace the alternator and get a new battery is 822 quid
Breakdown, as per the invoice
1) Job description- Investigate red battery warning on Dash--- 90
2) Job description- Alternator and battery required - replaced --100
3) Parts Battery S4011. Qty 1 = 144
4) Alternator Qty 1. =351
Operation 3 subtotal. 595

Subtotal 685
Tax total 137
Invoice total 822

Labour seems expensive investigate red battery warning £90! Would take a few minutes to establish the issue through testing, The parts may be right assuming it is a good battery and OEM alternator but would like to know how much they charge for Labour P/H?

Alt shud be repairable reg n diode plate. If slip ring shot, prob best replace I think batt for my 208. Was about 90 quid, bosch.

Probably a lot cheaper than an MB dealer would charge. Diagnosis on STAR would have been £200 ish. Labour probably £200/300 . Battery and alternator roughly the same. Whether the alternator requires replacement with new as opposed to repair of the regulator or a reman unit we don't know. How old is the battery - can it not be charged?

testing in alternator is 5s work. Testing a battery likewise after it being on a charger overnight.
Is the battery goosed or is the garage changing it for the sake of it.
Th cost for replacing the alternator depends where it is and the work involved.
Look at the rectifier. Many places an rebuild alternators at a fraction of cost.
