Hi All,

I've had my E220 CDi Estate for a couple of weeks now and I'm really enjoying it plus 39 MPG for mixed driving is great.

I've got a couple of simple questions for you experts

First one is on thing stork that sets the Speed Limiter also says Cruise, so got wondering if I have Cruise Control or just the limiter? I've had a mess about with it and can't seem to get cruise to come on so I've guessing not but the fact I've got it printed on the stork has me wondering.

I've bought parking sensors as my car didn't have any fitted. It's brilliant silver in colour with an slightly darker colour of sliver/grey on the bumper trim and I was wondering if anyone knew or could recommend a paint that I could use to match the darker trim on the bumper to paint the parking sensors?

Thanks in Advance

Cheers
Gary

Cruise on mine's activates when you pull it towards you, up and down to set the speed and push away to de-activate it. Very easy to work and use.

Touch the lever up or down when at speed you want to hold at, push away to turn it of, pull towards you resume previous speed.

If on cruise push lever up to accelerate to faster speed and down to decrease speed. It will remain at whatever speed it is at when you let go.

Thanks for the replies all.

I thought that might be the case after having a drive in my friends brand new CLC 180 and the cruise/limit stork was identical to mines but when I put mines towards me the cruise doesn't appear to come on like his did on the dash ??

The limiter works fine when pushing it in and the LED lights up and you can increase or decrease the set speed by moving the stork but nothing for the cruise....

I've got the handbook but it covers various models and no where can I see if I should or should not have cruise control.

Is there an easy way to tell if my car should have it? or any fuses etc I need to check?

Thanks
Gary

Hi,
When operating the cruise control ensure the led in the stalk is not illuminated get to a speed over 30mph (i think) and push the stalk up it should then maintain that speed, the cruise control will not operate with when the led is illuminated.

Yes -You can colour match the sensors -- the bumper trim paint will be a different code to the body ( hence the slighter darker colour ) Hellfords will mix you a small matching spray can --do em before fitting -or pull them out a bit from the bumper - cut a cardboard ring to fit round each one and give the a few light spay coats letting them dry well between each one --they should then be a perfect match and look as if they are original and have always been part of the car .??

On the older cars there is no indication on the dash that cruise in engaged. To engage you have to push the tempomat lever up or down. It will not do anything if you pull it towards you without first engaging it. As above make sure the limiter is not engaged. It should be pretty obvious when it is engaged as the speed will remain the same. Clearly newer cars are aimed at the US market where they have to be told everything.

As Bigasotonuk has said you need to make sure the limiter is switched off (NO LED lit) or go throught the instrument cluster settings menu to see what the limiter is set at and adjust it accordingly. If all this seems to be ok you may have a fault somewhere.

With regards to your paint issue, I use a highly regarded bodyshop company to do SMART paint repairs. They really are excellent and from experience I know they carry colour swatches for parktronic sensor issues like this.

All many thanks for the helpful replies!

I've had a couple of 7 series and a Saab 95 Estate and all had some sort of indicators on the dash when cruise was set but after reading all the replies I tried it again and it does indeed work!!

And thanks for the tip about Halfords mixing paint I didn't know about that and I've not fitted the sensors yet so I'll paint them before fitting them.

Cheers
Gary
