My W213 E400d estate broke down this evening, which really makes me feel good at 12k miles. Anyway, limped (much worse than limp mode) the last couple of miles back to my house as I really didn't fancy walking home. Called MB Breakdown, told no-one available until after 8am this morning. Not really a problem in itself, but...

The problem is i need the vehicle this weekend as i have around 500 miles worth of driving for work to do, whilst carrying passengers and equipment. No other suitable vehicles to hand.

With the vehicle shortages at the moment, what are the chances of me getting a courtesy car tomorrow for the weekend? Is this down to the dealer or mobilo to sort? I can't risk the mobilo mechanic just 'clearing the codes and sending me on my way', to break down again an hour later or over the weekend. Its been well over a decade since i've needed to call on mobilo's help.

Thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

Hello, I haven’t used mobilo since Aug 2020 but depending upon your issue, they either recover you or send the breakdown service out to you. Some warnings mean recovery without question as it’s something that can’t be seen roadside... if recovered, then you usually get a courtesy car from hire company for max 3 days and then the dealership transfer you to their loaners or continue the hire depending upon what cars they have available and when your car can be seen and fixed as relevant.
You might be in luck with it being Sat as hire cars can be delivered provided all sorted before their closing time... hope this helps

You should have called mobilo (whatever its called now) the moment you broke down and reqested a car.

The full t and c f are on the merc website.

What useless service, what if you needed to go out in the evening.

They are arranging a hire car and recovery of my own car, which gets me forward - however they want a security deposit on the hire car, which is a new one for me...

You would have thought that them having your car is security enough...

It should only be a nominal charge of £1 which will be refunded. This is so they have your credit card details for deduction of any motor related penalties should they be incurred whilst their vehicle is in your care...

Yes this was later clarified. They've sourced me an A180, which will have to do for the weekend. Thank you for your help everyone thus far!!
