Cracked Injector

Just removed the injector from a 270CDI ML and the injector is cracked, havent seen this before so is it a common fault.

No its not common.

I have replaced literally hundreds and never seen a cracked one.

Mercedes hadnt seen it either, made a right mess of the engine bay, the black carbon mess is 5mm + thick and I had to chip it all away before replacing, the bolt was loose and had been for some time. nightmare of a job.

Luckily its a customers car and not mine!!! But even so its not the kind of thing you would expect, especially as the new one from MB would be a reconditioned unit and not new.

I did see another post on here about 6 weeks ago about a cracked injector on a cdi engine
