Jumped in to the SL last night on the way home from the pub only to find the frost has cracked the screen right the way across !

Now when the glass company come out do the need to replace the light/rain sensor as this is on the windscreen also what are the wires inside the screen for ?

Anyone have any ideas ?

Many thanks

No idea at all but I would hope the screen company have all the answers.

Bad luck......I guess there must have been a ''flaw'' to give the frost a ''foot hold''.

Yep the flaw was a chip that had been repaired by the previous owner

The wires inside the screen are TV or radio antenna, I think. They need to have a complete screen that matches yours. Also they must do no damage to the paint surround or cause any leaks. Screen replacement is a specialist job - I would not wish to take pot luck with call out monkeys.

The screen will have all the sensors built in, they will probably ask for the Vin (or maybe get the Vin from the registration) in order to get the right screen. On one car I had to have the wipers re set on star as the sensor was too sensitive turning the wipers on all the time. Make sure you test everything before the fitter leaves.
