Crankshaft sensor location - 1998 Mercedes CLK 320 sport auto

Thanks for the infoTjo. Can anyone guide me to where the crankshaft sensor is located on my 1998 CLK 320 - any links or pictorials would be greatly appreciated as I can't seem to find any manuals online. Also a description of what function this sensor performs would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks to all.

hi, righthand side of engine at very back, little black plastic sensor with plug attatched, its actually in the bellhousing just where it joins with block, only takes a couple of mins to change.

Thanks for the info. very much appreciated - will source part from dealer tomorrow am. unless it can be found cheaper via an idie source. thanks again, hope this fixes problem - will post outcome by return.

Hi, is that the right side as you look at the engine from the front or the actual right side of the engine. do you get to it from the top or underneath and do you need to remove anything to get to it? Regards
