Hello Everyone,
Thank you all for your help in the past :!:
Today was the first day that I had finally finished the dash out repair of my evaporator, expansion valve and of course the replacement of the dehydrator on my 1987 420 SEL.
I had driven it a couple days ago to the local repair shop to have the A/C vacuumed out and charged with Freon without incident. I drove it again today to the gas station for a fill up and the A/C at the center vents was an enjoyable cool 42 degrees Fahrenheit or 5.5 Celsius.
Later today my son and I decided to take the old girl out for a bath and as we were pulling back into the garage the SRS light flickered. This seemed to raise some concern since I have never had this happen before in the past and the crash box had to be removed in order to extract the heat exchanger and evaporator-housing box from the vehicle to make the necessary repairs.
I took great care in the handling of the crash box when removing it and replacing it to the transmission tunnel, I even draped the padded material back over top of it again!
What could be causing the light to flicker intermittently? Is their something that the vehicle must relearn since the battery was disconnected for a period of time? Or did I just do something wrong on the reinstallation?
Things are kind of cramp in the center console!
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
