Sitting for half an hour in a queue of extremely slow moving traffic yesterday in temperatures approaching 35C. When the traffic started to move, I noticed everytime I pulled away or hit an uneven piece of road, I got this horrible creaking sound from the front suspension. When I got to work, I couldnt hear it anymore.
Bouncing the car up and down, pulling the wheels etc didnt replicate the noise, nor did driving it about over speed bumps. So, I left it.
Today, driving slowly in the heat and the noise started again, so I got out and bounced the front of the car up and down and the noise is coming from the FOS anti roll bar bush. The bar was very hot from the heat of the engine, its obviously moving inside the bush and creaking as it does so. The bush seems pretty new by the looks of it and there is no wear apparent.
If I lubricate the bush with something, will it have any adverse effects on the bar? Is this a common problem? I heard a very creaky E200 this afternoon too, I assume he is suffering from the same problem.
