I have just got my car back from Mercedes Benz Tonbridge where it has been for the past three days haveing a number of issues resolved. Apart from £76.00 the entire tab was picked up by the MB Approved Used warranty. The service team at MB Tonbridge were very efficient, and communicated what was happening very well.

The problems sorted were:
Replacement of locking fuel cap solenoid
Replacement of rear offside spring (original had broken after 50 000 miles)
Replacement of front anti roll bar (it may have been just bushes)
Removal of the entire dashboard to replace the gear attached to the stepper motor that controls the ventilation flap (This was causing a rattle first thing in a morning when teh car was started, lasted about 20 seconds and stopped).

It was the latter that took all the time and required MB Tonbridge to go back and forth to the warranty company to get them to make a decision.

The £76.00? Well that was to replace the nearside rear spring as this seemed like a sensible thing to do. The warranty wouldn't pay for it as it wasn't broken but MB Tonbridge got MB to pick up 50 per cent of the cost.

All in all a result and my car drives like the executive motor that it is again :)

It is good to read such a positive outcome.

We've had great service from MB Tonbridge as well - no problems recommending them. Helpful advice and investigations done for no charge when nothing could be found - and then they washed the car any way...

I think you're wise to have the other rear spring replaced. If one's broken, how long will the other last? - and, in addition, it's alway good to have both sides the same - whether it be tyres, brake pads or dampers.
Actually, one of my rear springs has broken this week. It's started "boinging" on speed bumps, so I'll have the pair replaced at the next service, next month.
Sadly only a "rip-off" AA Gold warranty in my case, and upon reading the small print I find the labour capped at £35 an hour - I have to pay the rest. A waste of time. I'm going to try for a "good will payment" from MB when I take it in, seeing as it's only four years old with 30k miles. I can't remember ever having a spring break before on any other car - and this is my "highest quality" (i.e. cost) car ever. A bit disappointing really.

I would like to think that you would get some help with that. My car is 5 years old with 50 000 miles. I didn't even have to ask for any assistance from MB, the dealer took the initiative and went straight to them and asked. Good luck with it.
