Crekaing/Groaning while stationary/low speed

I wonder if you could help?

While stationary, if I turn the steering wheel to the right and back to centre, there is a creaking/groaning noise. It also does this at low speeds, especially turning right into junctions, or while performing three point turns?
After reading many posts on this, I bought a genuine (MB) n/s lower ball joint, and had it fitted. The old one was very worn. However, the noise is still there. I am going to replace the o/s one to be on the safe side.

The question is, am I barking up the wrong tree? I am no mechanic, but I will have a go. I have also doused all bushes/joints etc in silicone spray, but with no luck.

Any ideas folks?

Very good ;)

I should have mentioned though that I can feel the vibration up the steering column.
