Overlap?

Crossfire is a strange American design, SLK is a perfect MB, where is the overlap :)

In fairness I havent driven a Crossfire, but I think too much of the MB has been lost in the looks if nothing else. I remember a recent road test (MoS I think) that was not very flattering.

Bottom line why would you want the non MB version of an MB car?

Mark.

Hmmm.....Let me see now......

Should the Crossfire have an MB chassis then by all that is reasonable it should perform as a MB chassis......BUT.

Remember one thing...Americans and corners do not mix well.

Also ask yourself the following.

Have you ever found an American car which was built to drive and wasn't made of poor quality materials?

The Crossfire is the R170 in yank makeup....and without the roof gizmos so the boot is bigger....if you go get in one you see the familar MB SLK R170 facia and swicthes....and of course the old 3.2l v6.

its the same thing VW did with the Golf when they introudced the beetle, and the SEAT LEON, Skoda Octavia, AUDI A3 etc. same car, different bodywork.

her indoors considering a 200K SLK over a 320 Crossfire Roadster 'cos hardtopvertible and more economical and less intimidating performance. Still more expensive tho'.

Sadly MrsC saw topgear as well and is now in love with the 55SLK :(

Lots of overtime required I think.

No missed that - must have been in the early part of the programme 'cos I saw quite a bit of it at the pub - DB5 / E Type etc.

For me I'd prefer an E55 to an SLK55. Her indoors can have a SLK200komp with a 55 badge..

Hi

I have posted up on my website the above, not great quality, but it was uploaded in a hurry :?

Is the clip from the 26th June screening...quite interesting!!

Enjoy...

Darren

ps I wish I could afford the 55, but I suppose I'll have to make do with my 200 (collecting it from Bremen around 13/9/05  )
